Our team corrected an error identified in the county and region filters in the Annual Changes in Michigan’s Licensed Child Care Providers map that resulted from an update in February 2026. The issue affected provider and slot counts among providers in zip codes spanning multiple counties or regions. The map now assigns providers to the correct county and region, and rounding errors were also corrected. To see the percentage by which the previously reported provider and capacity count data were affected by the ZIP code/county error, download this file. Each sheet reflects data from the following ages served: 0-13, 0-5, and 0-2 years.

To ensure the availability of accurate data during the affected timeframe, we have provided three dashboards with data from February - August 2026:

1. Provider Status Counts: The number of providers by status and capacity changes (new, increased capacity, no change in capacity, decreased capacity, and closed) from February to August 2026.
2. Monthly Provider Counts: The number of providers per month.
3. Monthly Estimated Spot Counts: The number of licensed spots per month.
